Public health has many advantages for reaching patients over primary care or hospital services, considering that hospitals can not solve the health problems of the people, because the health problems are in the community where people live. Additionally, most patients do not go to a hospital or health center because it's so far away or because of the cost. It is sad, but true, that for every life that is saved in a hospital, there are a hundred people who die in the community without having been served anywhere.
In reality, to improve health, the patient must change his high-risk behaviors, misinformed beliefs, and the poor living conditions which exist in the community. The association between the medical team and community, and national and international staff, is essential to integrate the resources that provide improvements to public health.
